As there are different MAFS for different models/years you need to make sure that you get one that is exactly the same as yours.I.E. same part number.

Fords, Motor factors, E-bay etc...

Be careful about buying MAFs from unknown sources. There are large number of Chinese manufactured equivalents around that even have the Bosch part number stamped on them and advertised similar to "for Bosch part number ******", so look for "genuine bosch" or similar when buying. The Chinese "Bosch" equivalent in an unbranded box did not work properly in my car.

I would just like to say that recently I bought a new maf and got what I thought was a good deal and from a respected maker of quality pattern parts. No it wasn't ! It gave me lots of problems. I had idle problems and fuel consumtion was poor. The car was good on acceleration when it was fitted (cos the other was knackered) but when my gal idled it was all over the place. Maybe I had bought just a duff one but I bought other parts thinking it was ok. I have just disconnected it to check if the maf is the problem with the idling. The car is idling better with out it so far (although it has been today only). I am going to pay the extra from now on and go to frauds because when I bought one from there before it was fine. PLEASE NOTE im not saying not to get pattern parts just note sometimes new parts can be faulty. Please (unlike me) check, if a fault occurs check the new part as well.

i had poor preformance from my 1.9 tdi mk2 2k,the power was ok up to 2000 rpm but after it was flat i unplugged the maf sensor and it was worse,so being a tight arse i took the sensor out,(oh yes fords have fitted a hex bolt with a round stud in the center good pipe grips will get around this)dipped the sensor in white spirit and with a soft brush lightly cleaned out, a few tiny bits of dirt came out, blew it dry and refitted, amazing the car has never gone so well and i have had it for nearly two years, its worth a try if you break it you gonna buy a new one anyway

I used Halfords bicycle disc brake cleaner to clean the MAF. Refitted the MAF and the Gal goes like a rocket now :) Edited by 2Gals
